Talls Vs Smalls Trivia Final Draft

I decided to create a video project of my family having a trivia game night. Fortunately for me, even with the conronavirus and isolation, my topic has ample of amount of content available because it was about my entire family. So showing of the dynamics of our family via video was a lot of fun. My kids realized I was recording them which also made them turn up the entertainment level a little higher. Of course with personalities we have YouTube was a leading example of what we should do.   I thought about Youtubers that have families and how the simplicity of there shows are sometimes, and just use the content to supply what I want.  I watched the video of the Prince Family and  CJ so Cool. I used these influenced to base my editing. I started with the videos and then progressed to work with the images, which I tried the opposite way and at first and it didn’t work well in my favor. So the second try I think I got what I wanted. I was able to get the right timing I wanted at 150sec.  The snipping tool was my best friend. I also used effect, presets and graphic effects in this video. I tried multiple things, but they did not work, so my solution was to just not do it, and go with a simpler process.   The exporting process was a challenging for me  because it took so long but I feel Like I did it well.

My Revisions were based off the comments I had received from my classmates and things I noticed.  However one thing was my ending credits did not have actual words.  So after I edited that, I  also decided to cut my video so the extra .03 seconds that was over didn’t need to be included for full credit.

Family Interview Final Post

The changes I made to this was I found out from a peer that part of the interview was only coming out of the right speaker and not the left. So I edited that. I felt like the rest of the interview and pieces were done well in the beginning. Overall, I am please with the out come of this project. Here is what I did in beginning. This interview is between my family and I.  We did individual interviews that I worked with and edited to get the story we currently have. The process of editing the interview wasn’t really all that complicated. A lot of snipping tool and dragging. I didn’t add in any effects it is just pure audio, with a few merged transitions. The really cool thing is that with no one being coached the story actually turned out well and quite similar. When you talk about my family and how we have fun, this is a great example of it. You are never too old to grab a pillow and start swinging. When someone yell “PILLLOW FIGHTTTTT” get ready because it’s an all-out war. So getting my wife and kids involved in this was a very fun experience. We were however, missing one interview from Ryan, who has been gone. But I would have went over my 3min limit had I included him anyway. So please take a listen and let me know what you think. Maybe this will bring back some happy memories and from you own life, I know I’ve laughed every time I’ve listened back. Enjoy the show!

Final Logo

My logo I created was inspired by family crest from mideval and tribal times. I wanted to do something that had meaning that represented my family and some of our attributes. Google was definitely my friend when it came to this.  Two major things I utilized was the images of family crest found on https://www.google.com/search?q=family+crest&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjllbC29fXnAhWsna0KHdvtC_cQ_AUoAXoECBMQAw&biw=1239&bih=587&dpr=1.55 and the images for different symbols and meaning I used West African symbolism found at https://www.mindfueldaily.com/livewell/west-african-symbols/.  The process by which I made this logo was particularly intricate. I utilized eight or nine layers for this logo. I wanted to really utilize the gradient tool as well as the shapes tools. I also experimented with different brush strokes and text fonts. It took me a couple hours to come up with the final draft, but I am pretty proud of it. I knew no one would know what the symbols meant so I also added the meaning in writing by each symbol. Of course, creating each symbol in a creative way was the hardest part. I didn’t just want to place boring shapes on the logo, but rather make each on different, while still keeping some sense of uniformity in the logo itself. My favorite symbol in the project is probably loyalty or greatness. I got to be really creative with the circles and put the envelope a little more than I did with other parts of the logo. The other thing that I really wanted was to make the logo pop. I have a thin outline of the contrasting color, which I felt really gave the artwork a nice 3D look.  I wanted the design to have balance and I think the squares diamond and circles with the black and white contrasts create that. The background gradient also helps focus the eyes on the lines and really brings all the artwork together.  I showed my wife the final project in hopes that I could get a great critique and I did.  Happily, she was very impressed with my overall skills on this project.

When I went to finalize this, I updated it by adding some color. While black and white are my favorite color, my family loves bright, vibrant colors, so I wanted to incorporate that. Lastly I wanted to utilize the cross. My wife actually had the idea to putting it in the support symbol, as our faith is very important to us and the backbone or support to who we are. I think this project finished well.
